Keith Richards speaks onstage during the "Keith Richards: Under The Influence" press conference at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival at TIFF Bell Lightbox on Sept. 17, 2015 in Toronto, Canada.
Keith Richards, the self-proclaimed “opinionated bastard,” took the time in his recent interview with the Wall Street Journal to speak a little more on (what he thinks is) Taylor Swift’s waning career, as well as his general disdain for pop music.
In the interview, the famed Rolling Stones guitarist continued on past sentiments that Swift’s career is a “flavor of the month,” telling WSJ: “Good luck girl — wish her well while it lasts.”
As for Swift's career, she has put out six studio albums since her debut over ten years ago. Her most recent LP, Reputation, spent multiple non-consecutive weeks at the No.1 spot of the Billboard 200 Albums chart and sold more than 1.2 million copies in its first week alone.
However Richards went on to say it may be because he isn’t a huge pop fan regardless: “I’ve just been around too long to be picking the bones out of kids. It wouldn’t be fair of me and I’ve always been an opinionated bastard anyway. And I never did really like pop music ― even when I became pop music, I was listening to the blues and jazz and not interested in the hits.”
The comments come after Swift performed with the Stones on stage in 2013, an experience that she said was the best moment ever: “The whole band, they’re so welcoming and wonderful and approachable and all the things you would hope your heroes would be.”
