When Ajebutter 22 released his second studio album, What Happens In Lagos, one of the things we noticed about the album was that all the features were tailored to the sound of the featured artist.
This was especially apparent on songs like "Yoruba Boys Trilogy" featuring Odunsi The Engine and "Lifestyle" featuring Maleek Berry, which he's just dropped a video for.
"Lifestyle" is arguably the best song from What Happens In Lagos, and we have Maleek Berry to thank for that. With Ajebutter's signature word play coupled with the great chorus by Maleek Berry, "Lifestyle" paints an archetype of how relationships between younger women and older men are often based on materialistic gain. We've already expressed our distaste for Ajebutter's usual tone against women (see "Regards To Your Mumsi", "Wayward" "Bad Gang" and several more).
Thankfully, the production by DAP and Studio Magic and Maleek Berry's general awesomeness distracts us from this, and makes the song an enjoyable listen. The accompanying video is really well-shot, and tells a story of a young girl who I guess is "in love with the lifestyle".
While the plot is a bit hazy, from the looks of it, she's playing the two of them and to that we say "get it girl!". You can check it out for yourself here:
