About five months ago, the incredible hashtag, #DrawingWhileBlack deservedly took Twitter by storm. The trend saw black artists from all around the world sharing their names, their locations and their stunning drawings.
While a couple talented Nigerians eventually joined in on the viral trend, most of their impressive work sadly got lost in the sea of other black artists — especially African-Americans who hopped on the trend first.
Now there's a new trend, started by Olaloye Bunmi, that is giving Nigerian creatives their chance to break the internet with their work: #WeAreNigerianCreatives. From illustrators to hyperrealist artists, talented Nigerians — both home and abroad — have joined the now-viral trend.
